IN-PERSON & ZOOM MEETING: A life full of Adventures!

Pam LeBlanc will talk about her life as an adventure writer.

About Pam LeBlanc:

Adventure journalist Pam LeBlanc grew up in Austin and attended Texas A&M University. She worked at the Plano Star-Courier and The Monitor in McAllen, Texas, before joining the staff of the Austin American-Statesman in 1998. During a nearly 21-year career at the Statesman, she launched the weekly Fit City column, ran a naked 5K and rappelled down a 38-story building as part of her Year of Adventure, and wrote about travels that took her from the John Muir Trail in California to the rivers of West Texas and the oceans surrounding Fiji and the Galapagos Islands.

She’s on the loose today as an Austin-based freelance writer who specializes in stories about outdoor adventure, travel and recreation. Her work has appeared in Texas Monthly, Texas Highways Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, AARP Magazine, Texas Coop Power Magazine, Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine, Real Simple and more. Her first book, “My Stories, All True: J. David Bamberger on Life as an Entrepreneur and a Conservationist,” was published in September 2020. And in March 2021, she and two other veteran travel writers, Kristin Finan and Mauri Elbel, launched an online travel magazine called Austin Travels, which focuses on travel from Austin to all corners of Texas and beyond.
